A continental breakfast and a lunch will be provided.

If you have questions or wish to let us know you're coming, please email Dr. Ami Hicks (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or RAFO (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

We look forward to your attendance--this is a call to action! We want you to help us build our community and share your expertise!

Thank you to the Bargaining Unit Members who came out and voted for our Spring 2019 referendum. All three conditions passed and will be implemented this coming Fall, during the 2019/2020 academic year, including the dues increase in 2019 from $125 to $150 for full Bargaining Unit Members.

On the April 12th payroll, per the agreement in the RAFO contract, all bargaining unit members who are teaching in the Spring 2019 term will receive a one-time bonus of 2%. Roosevelt University will be notifying bargaining unit members through RU email this week.

Finally, if you have a desire to become more involved in serving the union on either governance or the front table bargaining team, please contact me over the next two weeks at This email address is being protected from spambots. The RAFO Executive Committee encourages full members to engage in representing their college by serving on one of these governance committees.

RAFO has donated to UIC GEO's strike fund. If you wish to donate individually, please click here to find their fundraising campaign. We've all been graduate students, so we know a part of their struggle.

The following message is an update from their Fundraising Campaign.

As we move into the second week of our strike, we want to thank you for the help you have given us. Seeing all of the donations and messages of support roll in from undergraduates, faculty, staff, family, alumni, fellow union members, and allies from all across the country, we have known that we are not alone in facing a university administration that does not value our labor. Besides keeping our picketers fed, our signs waving, and our megaphone batteries charged, your donations have also given striking grad workers more confidence that they are protected from HR’s threats to dock their pay.

We were prepared for a long fight, and since the administration has certainly made no real move to change anything, we may be out for some time yet to come. For this reason, you will notice that we are raising the cap on donations to our strike fund, which, thanks to your help, has already almost reached our initial goal. If you know of any others who may be inclined to support our strike, please pass along the link. And thank you for your contribution to the fight to uphold the dignity of labor!

In solidarity,

RAFO Members:

As lead negotiator for the 2020-2024 contract, I am pleased to announce that your negotiating team and Roosevelt University have come to an agreement. RAFO is extremely pleased with the final outcome and we believe you will be, too. The University was adamant on 0% for the first year, but as an offset for that 0%, we negotiated a signing bonus of $150 for each bargaining unit member that taught either in Spring 2020 or will teach in the upcoming Fall 2020 semester. That then takes us into the final three years of the contract where adjuncts will receive a 2% increase for each of those years.

As I hope you can see from the above, RAFO worked hard to ensure that you are rewarded for the professionalism and integrity all have shown during these unusual and trying times. We are attaching a copy of the final contract for you to review and eventually ratify. The areas that appear in green are changes that were made to the verbiage in the contract that will support RAFO during the upcoming 4 years.  Appendix A reflects the 2% increase for each step in the final three years.

A link with the time will be sent next week for all to join this a zoom meeting, where we can answer your questions about the contract.

In closing, we hope you will be as excited as we are regarding the new contract.

In solidarity,

Don Wlodarski and the RAFO team:
