• Expanding academic freedom rights to new hires teaching their first semester at RU.

 

  • Allowing qualified adjuncts who gets “bumped” out of a course to be assigned a course in a different department, provided they have demonstrated experience teaching that course in another school.

 

  • Restoring a locked office for union record storage and privacy.

 

  • Expanding business leave funds, allowing more professional development for RAFO members.

 

  • Demanding RAFO members be informed of student complaints lodged against them in writing prior to any meeting taking place in reference to such a student complaint.

 

  • Requiring all departments hold one meeting with adjuncts per semester, either by themselves or with other department members, in person and via videoconference.

 

  • Increasing the hourly rate for all required meetings.

 

  • Increasing pay and protections for adjuncts who create a new class or are forced to adapt a class from one mode of teaching to another (i.e., from in-person to online or vice versa).

 

  • Shortening the number of semesters taught to allow newer adjuncts to get raises faster.

 

  • Increasing pay per class, to keep wages competitive with other area universities while helping make wages that match cost of living increases and years of no raises at RU.
